I went through something close to this. My first version was literally held together with quick fixes because I only wanted to see if people would use it. Then a couple of investors got interested, and suddenly every shortcut became a problem. I asked around and someone pointed me to workflow automation services . They seemed comfortable dealing with existing code instead of insisting on starting over, which ended up saving me a lot of time and headaches.
